1 + slides.length) % slides.length;\n            updateSlide();\n        });\n\n        nextBtn.addEventListener(\"click\", function() {\n            index = (index + 1) % slides.length;\n            updateSlide();\n        });\n    })();\n    <\/script>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Authority on Files and the University of Shkodra sign a cooperation agreement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shkod\u00ebr, 26.05.2025 \u2013 The Authority for Information on the Former State Security Documents and the \u201cLuigj Gurakuqi\u201d University of Shkod\u00ebr signed a cooperation agreement, with the main aim of deepening collective memory and studying the activity of the former State Security, particularly its impact on the lives of individuals and public figures of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Rector of the University of Shkodra, Prof. Tonin Gjuraj<\/strong>emphasized that the agreement is based on four main pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Promotion of scientific research<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 The Authority's documentation constitutes a rich resource for researchers interested in this field.&nbsp;<strong>Civic education<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Confronting the past through scientific analysis helps shape the younger generations.&nbsp;<strong>Uncovering the communist past<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Through conferences, publications, and joint activities aimed at objectively shedding light on history.&nbsp;<strong>Access to archival sources<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Students and researchers will have the opportunity to use copies of documents relevant to their studies, especially in the second and third cycles of education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is much to explore, but sufficient studies have not yet been conducted. This is a very interesting field for young researchers,\u201d emphasized Prof. Gjuraj, adding that study visits to the Authority are also being planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Chairwoman of the Authority, Mrs. Gentiana Sula<\/strong>considered the agreement as a step forward in the academic institutionalization of historical memory:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is not enough for documents to be accessible or declassified; if they are not read by the right minds, they do not gain the value they deserve. This agreement gives memory a credible, academic dimension that aims to remove stereotypes, stop divisions, and build a better future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs. Sula emphasized the importance of local histories, which give memory a human face:\n\u201cEach of us has a story, a name, a face connected to the past. In Shkod\u00ebr, this is especially strong \u2014 the city has shown resistance and active citizenship. We are ready to support not only the University\u2019s academic agenda but also our mission to inform and raise public awareness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Members of the Authority<\/strong>&nbsp;emphasized the importance of opening documents covered by the \u201cdust of oblivion\u201d to revive historical memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mr. Gjergj Marku<\/strong>\u201cWhen those files are examined, that is where the importance lies. The skill of those who know how to read them will remain in the memory of the youth and will refresh history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mr. Altin Hoxha<\/strong>\u201cThis cooperation serves the professional and academic uncovering of the past. Publishing the findings is the best service we can offer the public. This is the path to not repeating history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cooperation agreement aims to build new bridges between the institution of memory and the academic world, to assist in documenting, understanding, and sharing the past with society.
