During the period January-August 2024, we have made several important steps in the process of recovering the missing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a033 new requests from family members, bringing the total number to 314. 9 of these requests were made by women, showing that the families of missing persons see cooperation with the authorities as an important opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0Three administrative verifications have been carried out to identify the remains of executed persons, including those of the \u201cGroup of saboteurs in oil and economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0The draft decision of the Council of Ministers was sent on June 12, 2024, for review and approval to the Ministry of Justice and is currently with the Ministry of Interior for competence, paving the way for the search process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0Monitoring of identified and suspected burial sites to ensure their preservation and to prevent interventions and alterations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a012 new testimonies have been collected from the families of the missing, helping to document their stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0We signed a Protocol with the International Commission on Missing Persons \u2013 ICMP to create a more secure database and improve the search process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, we organized two important activities:
\u00a0Documentary Exhibition on Those Killed at the Border (May 8, 2024)
\u00a0Symposium on Those Killed at the Border on the International Day of the Disappeared (August 28, 2024)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, we are working on a general memorial in Tirana and the \u201cPath of Freedom\u201d memorial in Rehov\u00eb, to honor the victims and express social grief and respect for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
