Durr\u00ebs, 8 July 2025<\/strong>\u2013 The closing ceremony of the national competition \u201cLearning from the Past \u2013 Acting for the Future\u201d was held, an event that engaged young voices to reflect on Albania\u2019s history and promote active civic engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Konkursi u zhvillua n\u00eb kuad\u00ebr t\u00eb projektit t\u00eb K\u00ebshillit t\u00eb Evrop\u00ebs \u201cForcimi i Edukimit p\u00ebr Qytetari Demokratike n\u00eb Shqip\u00ebri\u201d, n\u00eb bashk\u00ebpunim me Autoritetin p\u00ebr Informim mbi Dokumentet e Ish-Sigurimit t\u00eb Shtetit dhe me mb\u00ebshtetjen e Agjencis\u00eb Suedeze p\u00ebr Zhvillim dhe Bashk\u00ebpunim Nd\u00ebrkomb\u00ebtar (Sida).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ombudsman, the Municipality of Durr\u00ebs, the Children\u2019s Cultural Center in Durr\u00ebs, along with teachers, parents, and students, in an event of remembrance, creativity, and responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From November 2024 to April 2025, over 520 students from 30 schools in 10 cities\u2014including Tirana, Durr\u00ebs, Elbasan, Prrenjas, Shkod\u00ebr, Vlor\u00eb, Bulqiz\u00eb, and others\u2014participated in the informative and reflective tour \u201cLearning from the Past,\u201d aimed at encouraging awareness and reflection on the country\u2019s historical past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 During this journey, the students were introduced to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 publications by the Authority such as \u201cSunrise in Spa\u00e7\u201d<\/em>, \u201cSpa\u00e7 \u2013 The Story of a Revolt\u201d<\/em> and \u201cBroken Borders\u201d<\/em>;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 the documentary \u201c3 Days of Freedom in Spa\u00e7\u201d<\/em>;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 testimonies from survivors of political prisons;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 the fundamental concepts of human rights and their violations during the dictatorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her speech, the Chairwoman of AIDSSH, Ms. Gentiana Sula, praised the courage, critical thinking, and originality of the students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is not just a competition, but a step towards increasing civic awareness. We invite young people to learn from the past not only to remember it but to use it as a guide for a freer and more democratic future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony continued with the awarding of prizes for 17 outstanding works in poetry, prose, essays, visual arts, and multimedia. More than 80 submissions in total showcased the talent of young people and their sensitivity to historical and democratic themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity marks an important step in efforts to empower young people through education and culture, ensuring that the lessons of the past serve as a foundation for building an aware and democratic society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
