, Altin Hoxha

Altin Hoxha is an elected member of the Authority for Information on Former State Security Documents (AIDSSH), serving in this position since 2016. He has been elected twice by the Albanian Parliament as part of the collegial body that leads the institution responsible for access, preservation and administration of former State Security documents, being a consistent voice in support of the right to know and historical transparency.
During the exercise of his mandate, Altin Hoxha has represented the Authority in a number of international forums and official meetings with European counterpart memory institutions, including participation in conferences and symposia in Poland, Italy, Brussels, Helsinki and other countries. The focus of his engagement has been the exchange of best practices for the administration of the archives of the secret services of the former communist regimes, as well as the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation at the European level.
Prior to his engagement in AIDSSH, Altin Hoxha has built a long career in the field of national security, where he has held important leadership positions within the State Intelligence Service (SHISH). He has served, among others, as Director of the Security Directorate, Director of the Interception Directorate, and Head of Branch in the Central Apparatus. In these duties, he has dealt with the management of classified information, risk assessment and building analytical capacities of intelligence structures.
With a broad academic background, Altin Hoxha graduated in Petroleum Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Tirana and completed a Master in Security at UFO University. During his career, he has attended dozens of trainings at home and abroad, including advanced programs in data analysis, monitoring technology and archival administration, such as the training held in Berlin at the Federal Stasi Files Agency.
In addition to his professional training, he is also known for his passion for the sport of chess, where he has represented the Butrint team in international competitions.
Altin Hoxha remains an important contributor to the efforts to shed light on the communist past and protect historical memory in order to serve a democratic future.
